FAO: Manager?

I'm about to send off 15 CVs with covering letters. All been double checked by my English teachers etc, but I'm just wondering what I should put on the envelope, before the address.

I've done this before and simply put "FAO: Manager", from which I receved 3 job offers out of 10 :D :p.

I'm wondering though if it's perhaps a little too cheeky or informal, considering how formal my covering letters and CV are.

Suggestions?

how about a quick 2 min phone call to the company and ask the receptionist the name of the manager of x deptmartment.

at least it looks like you made some effort ?

It's effort enough typing out 15 covering letters or even finding 15 places I wish to work :p. Folding paper and putting it in the envelopes, then finding and writing all the addresses. Pffttt!

They need to start paying me if I'm gonna do anymore; which is the idea! :D

I was being sarcastic, yes. :)

It's a good idea though, and one that didn't cross my mind until this thread. I have already written four out with "Personnel Manager" on them. For the rest, I'll phone up and get the relevant names! :D
