I *think* the router is our main problem in regards to the internet disconnecting, as the cable going from the modem straight to the laptop works fine, but if we put that that cable straight to the 360 the IP still can't be found.

Anyway, we need to know a router that 100% works with both the 360 and PC's with NTL!

So please advise...

I use a Linksys (made by cisco) WRT54GS.

Great router for the price. I got mine whilst is was on a special offer at my local LARGE pc component shop for £39.99 including a free wireless adapter.

We'll have a look for that then. Any other suggestions, being a student she aint got much money. The Belkin cost £25 (there not on wireless)

You could get an el-cheapo router but I wouldn't advise it. The router I have is £41 in the same place at the moment. Bargain IMO.

does your internet disconnect while under light use or under heavy load? Do you use bittorrent at all?

Kinda random, can do it whenever.

Sarah doesn't download anything and I don't think the two house mates really do..

Think I know which one you're on about.. is it wireless?

Have used on NTL -

Smc Barricade Router (No Wireless) (Good router no complaints)

Us Robotics Wireless MaxG ( Wireless isnt very good and doesn't have static dhcp entries but fine for non wireless use)

Old Pc with 2 network cards and Smoothwall ( No Complaints )

There was an article I read and they reckoned the 2 best cable routers were -

Buffalo Airstation WZR G300N
Trendnet TEW631BRP

Those 2 are around £80 not cheap.

Yep, have that Linksys aswel, working great.

Had a Belkin router to begin with, nothing but hassel, dropping connections, not port forwarding etc. Returned it and got the Linksys

Yes it is. Bit pointless them giving away a free wireless adapter with it if it wasn't :p
I got one onlnie from another shop before I saw one in PC world. :(

I dont even have it anymore.. I'm after a wired one for my 360. :P

It can be wired too you know. I don't use it wireless at all, no need as its sat on top of my 360 and 4ft from my PC.
