FAO people with NFS:Carbon. Help required!

Anyone who is fairly new to the game will be helpful here, basically when you have completed the reaces on the certain territory, you race against the boss, then to the canyon when you race behind each other and vice versa...

BUT, can anyone tell me from the first territory you take over when your on the canyon, does the AI go first, (you following him) or do you the player go first and the AI chasing? Obviously it swaps over, but who leads firstly?

Just a little something the girfriend and I are disputing and I can't seem to go back to the previous boss.

Except I only overtook on the last one, about 20 hours after I completed the first boss 'challenge'

I did this race last night and this is indeed correct.

The overtaking bit made it a joke, once i clocked this i managed all bosses including that last one like this
