Ok guys not sure if u remember but u helped me a little over a month ago. I reckon i wont buy the previous PC because u made valid points and i think i will now build one myself with the help of a m8. Basically this is the PC i have in mind .. more or less stole the spec off, but i know u sub'ed in a few things so just wanted to post it with up2date prices and double check it is all compatible.
ps. that mother board supports the 1900X SLI right ? .. i left it out atm coz i dont think i need it right now and Semi-pro u did say its useless on a 19" so .. ->

You are right I did say that SLi or Crossfire (for ATI cards) would be pointless on a 19" screen, by the time you need to add a second card for that screen size you are as well buying a whole new single card as a general rule - if you were talking about 1600x1200 or higher resolutions then dual graphics card systems have a place but otherwise I don't see the need.

It basically looks fine but given the amount you are spending don't buy the 945 Presler, you can get a Conroe chip for about the same so I'd say get the 6300 Allendale and a decent cooler(maybe the Arctic Freezer 7) and you will have a better system. I'd probably advise changing to a Gigabyte DS3 or DS4(supports dual graphics cards apparantly) anyway as they are known to clock well with the 6300/6400 chips and I know less about the DQ6 so it also saves you a little bit of money.

I just echo what is mentioned above.

However i would change the ram for the geil ultra 6400.

Get a e6300 and a ds3/ds4, coupled with a good heatsink and clock away.

What's already been echoed really. You'd be mental not to go C2D (compare here) :D Coupled with PC6400 RAM that system will fly!

For extra funds towards C2D or savings… dead set on that case? Had a look at the (IMHO) beautiful Lian Li's?

& cheers semi-, hadn't seen this ;)

Yep, that all looks good now, if you need to save a bit of money you could go for a 6300/6400 as suggested with the same motherboard and Ram but if you'd prefer to buy the bundle for simplicity then all is fine :)

//edit oooh wait, buy the SATA versions of the hard drives, no point in buying ATA100 versions, it might not hold the drives back much in speed terms but you only have 1 IDE port on the motherboard if memory serves.

Good spot, there. :)

Your memory does serve you correctly. You'll definitely want the SATA versions, Mr. Tank.

these guys ?

Yep, those are the ones, in theory they should be marginally faster due to the greater bandwidth available for SATA drives, whether it makes any difference in reality is another story but you might as well get them to keep the IDE ports free. :)

I'd change the monitor for a start there is a VX922 for the same price and its a lot better :P

Peronsally however I'd buy a Hyundai ImageQuest N91W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black. Excellent monitor for the price.

512mb is a preference however if your gaming at 1280x1024 (Or 1440x900 if you get that widescreen monitor I recommened) I wouldnt say the 512mb is worth it. Personally I'd get the HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 and overclock it to XTX speeds. Great card and nice and quiet at a good price atm.

Other than that it looks very nice mate.
