Sorry for the lack of PARPage, but given past competition between us I didn't want to count my chickens before they'd hatched. :D

The fat lady is most definitely excercising her vocal cords. :D

PARP, and at least temporary STOMP, with permanent STOMP hopefully to follow within 24-48 hours. :D

Was hoping to get a bit closer to the 1m mark before this but your production has been too much for my two little puters to compete with. :D

An assesment of the crunching powah here is ongoing. ;)

On my return from the Maldives at the end of July 2X quad SMP machines could join the fold.

Assuming approval from her almighty that is!

Fold on team 10

Broached the subject this evening and got the "you must be joking" answer. Can see her point though after spending quite a few hundred quids on lenses for the old camera last month. :(

Will have to settle for replacing the ageing Opty rig with a quad and leaving it at that for now. Unless something breaks. ;)

Keep up the output mate and give me something to chase in a month or two.

Fold on

Why oh why do I tempt fate!
Memory on my main rig gave up the ghost today. :(

Now running with a very overpriced 512mb stick of pc5300 so back to the win console x2 for me till the RMA gets sorted.
Had a 1760 pointer on 96% too.

Anyone know the minimum ram needed to run ubuntu64 feisty on vmware?

Limping on!

I run Xubuntu in VMWare, it's a low overhead version of Ubuntu for older PC's. I prefer it now, much simpler and the setup is the same as regular Ubuntu.

Haven't investigated the minimum requirements of it and the SMP client but a quick peek in Task Manager and I have 2GB of RAM and I have nearly 1 gig free with the VM running and a GPU client.

Were you wearing a nylon jump suit with matching gloves after moonwalking up and down the carpet while "checking" you computer/rubbing the ramsticks on your jump suit? :p

Why not just run Ubuntu Server edition? Then you even ditch the wasted overhead of a GUI full stop :)

What he said - it's how I'm running mine. Actually, I run VMWare totally headless, no GUI at all - either client or host (though you do need a GUI on the host to do the Ubuntu install).

never had a many problems with the server version as i do with the desktop one (just love that orange statue bar - can't go back to black and white now :o :D )

then again getting things wrong with ubuntu is what i do :D
