I have bought a Tefal Avanti Polished Stainless Steel 4 Slice Toaster at half price sale of £25. It used to be £50 at Argos so it must be bargain and it has two independant slot, each with individual browning control.

After using it out couple of times, I'm not sure if this is new to me or it is faulty.

It toasted dark brown on one side and the other side is light brown. If I want a proper brown on other side, the first side would have burnt.

I have decided to get it exchanged at Argos later but I am having a second thought. I think it meant to serves its purpose, if you toast english muffin, you would get perfect browning on top side without burning the bottom.

No matter which toaster I find, they seemed to do that.

What do you think?

Really? Wow cool.

I think there maybe a setting you're missing (OP). A lot of toasters have that so you don't burn one side while trying to get the other to a nice toasty level. Then you surely should be able to switch it off if you wanna e.g. cook waffles or your girlfriends face.

Hmm, I guess it is faulty then.

However, I have just googled for customer reviews of it, many have commented about uneven toasting.
