far cry 2 chipmonk voice problem!

Recently installed Far Cry 2 on my system; game runs fine, EXCEPT for the chipmonk speech problem!... i.e. all speech sounds like chipmonks (and is very fast etc)! ... i.e. similar to someone playing a tape on fast fwd..!

have my sound and video drivers up to date .. am using a Xonar D2 7.1 PCI nad a Radeon 4850 on an Opty 2.2Ghz and A8N Sli Deluxe mobo with WinXP Pro SP3 ..

Far Cry 2 also patched itself before I first played it, so the game is up to date as well...

anyone know what the issue is?

I got this except problem with a Xonar D2X on XP Home. I updated my drivers from the Asus website to the latest ones and the problem was solved.

Try re-installing your sound drivers, i.e. straight from the internet. What version are you on at the moment?

seems there were a few new drivers since I bought my sound card (Nov 08) !
