FAR CRY 2 FROM STEAM CRASHES.

i bought far cry 2 of the xmas for £3 thinking it was a bargain but this game will just noit run tryed benchmark mode and single player jusr crashes when its just about to load the game,tryed the ati hot fix but still no joy.

Always used to crash for me and there is no fix. Haven't tried it since I bought it on Steam.

FC2 is so bad, you'd be on here complaining even more if the game actually ran

try using the dx9 exe. well known issue with dx10 exe CTD.

Is it where it loads, screen goes black and then CTD's?

Had the same problem - finally managed to fix it by a) Running DX9 b) Turning some gfx options down c) Vsync ON d) No AA

Agreed. Thought the gameplay was excellent and graphically very nice too. Easlily one of my favourite shooters of the last few years.

I thought it was a good-ish game, but I was shocked at how repetitive it was. I really can't believe they put so little effort into the plot. Shame cos the graphics, sound and atmosphere were top-notch.

I had the retail version, played for about 10 minutes then uninstalled it, bad game. :mad:

I read the PC GAMER mag review of FAR CRY 2, made a purchase off the web installed it played it for 10 minutes like the above, uninstalled it and flogged it on a well known online auction site for what I paid for it lucky escape

I bought Flight Control HD off Steam at Xmas for £3.

It has had 10 times the gametime as FC2.

Ok now I have a few games on steam that do the same thing. Try these things:

Try running game by navigating to the steam apps folder and running the game exe direct.

Try using run commands to force a specific screen resolution matching desktop resolution to avoid mode switching issues.

Try contacting steam support, in the past they have helped me quite a lot.

Another possible fix is to right click the game in steam library list,go to 'properties' and then 'verify game cache'.

Agreed. It can get a little repetitive but it's definitely worth playing.

got it working went into steam left click and verifired game cache there was a file missing steam redownloaded missing file and now it works thnx for all you help,game isint that bad to be honest gpaphics are very nice.

I have no issues loading the game from Steam on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 but then I am running the game on DX9 and not sure if that makes a difference.

No problems here on dx10...now I've said it huh. It is a bit samey but I'm ploughing my way through it slowly.
