i am pretty ticked off with far cry 2s ending i played a total of 32 hours and for what to see a large bang and some of the locals walking over a border. up untill the ending it was a top game for me but after all that and and i cant go back and free roam and finish assassination mission so now to finish them i have to start again! why??? why cant they let use free foam and do they rather fun side missions i dont know about anyone else but this has realy ticked me off!!! why could it not be more like GTA?

Yeah, i thought the ending was a bit awful, and i wanted to go back...i mean, i only had one save which i saved too so i didnt have any saves before i crossed "the line".

There is a Far Cry 2 thread you know, it seems to of been lost though, the same goes for the game too.

Unistalled. :)

The middle was pretty bad too, and the start wasn't that great.

I must have only put in ~4 hours before sacking it off.. complete waste of money :(

I couldn't agree more. I put mine up for sale along with a few more titles the other day.

I tried to get into this game a few times. I found it really lacking on story etc substance from the start.

I thought that too. It just seemed really generic.

I also didn't like the ending in Fallout 3 where you couldn't play on after the story ended.

I completed it just to try and justify buying it over Fallout 3. Was not a pleasant experience.

Apparently dlc will be fixing this ;)

I had a save game right at the end which let me go back and try both options. Explosives or case I think it was. It doesn't really make much difference which one you choose. Not a very good game, 2 hours in and you have seen the lot really. The tragic thing is, with a few changes here and there it could have been great. It had the basis of a classic game.

it is a fun game to play with the base of good story line but they messed it up! it could have been one of the best games for the PC but not so...

Yeah the ending was weak...

The game could have been 10x better with a more open GTA style gameplay and removing some of the annoying things like constantly repopulating checkpoints, over the top weapon degredation and malaria.

*echoes comments of all above*

Got brilliant reviews, but that was obviously a case of the reviewers getting caught up on the hype.

To be fair I think the weapon degradation needed to be like it is to have much effect on gameplay. If it was much less, then it would have been too much of gimick and rarity. I found the weapon jamming heightened the tension and added a little extra to some of the combat (e.g. rushing to switch it for a dropped gun).

As for malaria, the only thing that annoyed me really was the fact that it uses the same button as healthpacks. So if you were unlucky enough to get a malaria attack while low on health, you had to wait until you'd downed a pill before being able to heal yourself - not ideal when you've got a bunch of AK-wielding mofos blazing away at you from 15 yards! I suspect that was down to it being xbox'd i.e. lack of available buttons on a gamepad.

My copy of FarCry2 arrived on Friday...I got the game and the Fortunes Pack for £9.99 so thought it was worth it to try it. The game itself plays nicely, its great engine, the weapons feel great, the sound effects are awesome. So far, Ive only played single player for an hour or so, but given what everyone says about it, I'll doubt Ill play it much more.

However, it's a pretty good blast online, its one of those games that just feels pretty right to play. It's realistic enough that you don't feel like your playing a twitch game where its just whoever can mash the strafe/jump buttons fastest, but not so realistic that its got a steep learning curve or is too frustrating to get to grips with. Hopefully there will be some nice mods coming out to make use of the engine.

My one gripe with multi player is the sniper rifles; sometimes it seems that everyone on the server is using them. The most powerful one is an anti material rifle which is also semi automatic, so you end up with a server full of players who, having managed to upgrade to one, then spend the rest of the game hidden somewhere blasting away and killing everyone with one shot from 419874917241498124791749142 miles away. I wouldn't mind so much if it happened just occasionally, but there are always loads of players doing it so the game turns into a camp-fest. Im all for slower, more tense gunplay, but it gets really silly in some servers.
