Hey guys,

This week I built myself a new i7 rig (please see in my sig for details). As you can see I have a 4770K @ 4.7Ghz and a Reference GTX 780 3GB.

Now the system absolutely flys, especially in desktop its like lightening but Im finding in Far Cry 3 Im still experiencing dips down to 30fps on Ultra with MSAA x 2 on. If I turn off MSAA completely its buttery smooth 60fps all the way.

It seems crazy to my mind that I have spent a serious wedge of cash and time building this rig and yet I cannot keep a consistent 60fps in FarCry3, whats that all about? :p

What is it going to take to have all the settings on in a game like this?

I'd say that you have v-sync on so when you push things that bit further, and it can't quite manage 60fps, it has to drop to 30fps as it's just missing the next frame and waiting for the next one.

Yep make sure vsync is disabled, I had no framerate issues in this game i.e. 75fps+ on an inferior system having lowered a couple of settings (try using FXAA if available).

^ As above, perhaps try frame limiting. Nvidia can do this in the driver control panel, can't they? If not, Afterburner. Give 59/60/61/62fps limit a go and see how it looks/feels.

Ok so disable v-sync and try to limit the frame rate in nvidia control panel?

I notice the frame rate usual drops in the dense jungle where there are lots of foliage?

Ok I have turned off V-Sync and MSAA in the in-game menu, and turned them on via the Nvidia control panel and it seems to have completely solved the issue.

I had a look around the Nvidia forums and it was also something members suggested :) The general consensus there was that FarCry3's implementation of MSAA is somewhat broken.
