I've been trawling google for any info but can't seem to find any, Does anyone have any info regarding the removal of AC: Unity and Far Cry 4 from steam ?

I've read a few things ranging from timed exclusivity with GAME to both games becoming Uplay exclusives.

Even if are they are on Steam, they will still need Uplay. I'd just buy the cheapest version you can find.

I've just added Uplay to my Steam library so I can get to the games from one place.

Origin India is the cheapest place to get both games. You will get a Uplay code once released and won't need to use Origin.

EH? What has origin (EA's content delivery service) got to do with uplay (Ubisoft's content delivery service)

Bit of a condescending tone in that post.

You can buy games via Origin from other publishers.

Far Cry 4 is £19 via Origin India (use a VPN) or £27 for the game and season pass.

I bought Watch Dogs through Origin earlier in the year. It appears in your Origin games list, but just takes you through to Uplay when you launch it.

Same as Steam would.

My understanding for Far Cry 4 and AC Unity, even though you can buy them on Origin you can activate them on Uplay (you'll get a Uplay key on release) and then use Uplay only to play them, without needing to start up Origin.

It was a question born out of genuine surprise/confusion. Take whatever meaning you wish.

I didn't know you could buy uplay games though origin (I try to buy as little as possible through origin). It seems a bit odd that the cheapest place to buy a uplay game would the mexican origin store.

I'm annoyed that it's been removed from steam though.

We have been here before for those who remember.

The same thing happened a few years ago.

Back then, it was a marketing agreement with Game.

Game still think they are a major player in the UK market and make demands on publishers.

Unity will appear on Steam after Game have got the pre-orders and day 1 sales.

The cash cow is console sales and if Ubisoft do not back down, Game would likely nerf day 1 console sales too by not giving prominent store/window displays etc and as we all know, day 1 sales for such a big title are very important.

FC4 is definitely avaialble on Steam in the US.

Google for "steam far cry 4" and it's the first link but I get "This item is currently unavailable in your region".

My mate in Seattle can buy it for $59.99... tempted to get him to gift it to me.

$59.99....Just get it on Origin...

Google Hola, install it as a browser extension. Select India as your region, go to the Origin store (you don't need the program installed). It's all in English so just select the version you want (Standard or Gold) and when you get to the bit at the checkout, disable the Hola extension and click purchase.

Done.

This VPN loop hole will one day close me thinks. I don't know what the official word is from the likes of Origin, Uplay and Steam but using them lately seems to have become more frequent and easier to achieve with the likes of Hola etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it as I think it stinks that the price for the same game can vary so much in different countries and as per usual - we get shafted.

It just concerns me that if they frowned upon it they could in theory ban your account if they wanted to. I'd rather not have separate accounts for each game but I suppose that could be an option.

They could have closed the loophole ages ago on Origin, they really don't seem to care.

Separate Uplay and Origin accounts wouldn't even bother me though.

Steam is a different matter. They will ban you if they think you are using a VPN.

Buying a 3rd party key on Origin via VPN to use with another DRM client is hardly going to get anything banned.

Buying a game on Steam using VPN to circumvent regional pricing, that will get your account banned.

Actually the game will just get removed after a few days and you will lose your money.

Happened to a work mate of mine, Lost half of his library XD

Hmmmmm, so just to clarify. If it's a third party key you buy via Origin, this same key will work in Uplay independently?

In other words, once you have the key from Origin, you can launch Uplay without running Origin and register the key?

Surely, even if Origin wanted to remove the game from your Origin account there is nothing they can do about your Uplay account and Uplay won't have any idea where you bought the key and if it was an Indian VPN sneaky method?

Hmmmmmm, now it looks inviting!
