So my son asked if he could buy Far Cry 4 (XBox 360). After looking it up I decided he's a little too young.

I've let him play Call Of Duty online with his friends (after actively checking it out with him) which obviously shows FPS violence, but from what I could gather about Far Cry 4 is its content and language seemed another step up?

Anyone able to comment? ie: Someone who's got/played FC4?

To be honest Cod is probably less suitable. If he plays COD online then it's nothing he hasn't heard before.

What about the content of FC4 itself? Torture/nudity/drugs/gore/in game language etc?

I've watched COD being played and apart from the actual shooting graphically that's about it. Language wise also, the game language isn't too bad in multiplayer, and as regards voice chat I believe he generally plays with his friends etc.

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a man (Ajay Ghale) returning to his ancestral home to spread his mother's ashes. Players engage in a variety of frenetic combat missions and use machine guns, pistols, shotguns, knives, and explosives to kill enemy fighters amid mountainous environments. Players can also perform stealth attacks (i.e., sneaking up on enemies and slitting throats/stabbing chests). Battles are highlighted by screams of pain, realistic gunfire, and large blood-splatter effects. Some levels/cutscenes depict further violence: characters tortured via electrocution, stabbed repeatedly in the neck, executed with bladed weapons. The game includes some sexual/suggestive material, including dialogue referencing sexual activity (e.g., “The army forces us to take drugs and then gives us more if we do sex for wealthy men”; “Some of the people in my village, the army forced them to become prostitutes”; “I think sex is fun;” “was with this girl and she was into some crazy S&M. . .”). In one battle sequence, a man's genitals are briefly exposed while falling/being attacked. During the course of the game, two characters are depicted smoking marijuana; players' character also consumes the drug, resulting in blurred-screen effects and occasional hallucinations. The words “f*k,” “sht,” and “a*shole” appear in the dialogue.

Played for about 10 hours now and would say it's unsuitable for an 11 year old IMO. Nudity so far I've seen is woman fully topless.

The S&M thing that is quoted above is on the radio that plays when you get in vehicles and seems out of place to me never mind an 11 year old, it goes onto to mention a few "tools" as well that are used in S&M

Then you have the usually swearing, up close stabbing and shooting of people and animals.

Another thing with the far cry games that I don't see in the COD games is the moral decisions you have to make, you have to pick between 2 missions from different characters and I'm sure no matter which you pick the chracter you didn't pick blames you for people getting killed etc.

In far cry 3 I remember you have to decide between two of your friends dying, I've not come across a similar choice in far cry 4 yet but you see the sort of thing I mean.

In general fps games are very violent, there is blood, melee knife attacks etc.

Single player mode: Some COD's in the past (Blackops1-2 and maybe in MW1,2,3 Ghosts and AW i dont remember i skipped a few) have torture scenes, bloody executions and dismemberment and some other stuff which are unsuitable. Online wise except the blood and the fact that the game gives the player every excuse to just run and shoot people there is nothing else there.

As for Far cry 4 he is too young, the game is known for the violence. I have seen a few bits of the game and someone might say he should keep away from that franchise till he becomes older. The knife melee attack is brutal, you skin animals and you kinda see some part of it, also you get to stick a wood branch in your arm to remove bullets out of your arm. Its cool as a game but not for that age. I cannot commend on the multiplayer though as i haven't played it. I have plaid Far cry 3 and i can say it is violent with the crazy guy coming after you.

Here is a link where you can see some of what i mentioned

Plus you cannot make sure he won't play the single player campaign mode in either game if you don't stay next to him watching non stop what he is doing

I wouldn't recommended letting 11 year old play the game, as it has scenes of nudity and its violent game.

From what I have played so far, I wouldn't let an 11 year old play it.

Don't be hating on the violet bro.

it's interesting that people deem nudity more of an issue than violence.

Well nudity raises far more awkward questions than violence does. :p

But as far as an 11 year olds mind set goes, violence could have more of an effect. Then again early exposure to sex etc could have similar effects.

Big no from me. FC4 has quite a bit of swearing and some nudity. The game is quite violent too

A line has to be drawn somewhere at a younger age. The trick is where of course. From what I've read, FC4 seems to be beyond that line for me for my 11yr old son. And your comments seem to validate that.
