Would I see a performance increase over the 32-bit version if I just installed the 64-bit binarys and not the extra content?

I found a significant speed boost, even with frogs hopping around on the path.

Though it went no quicker with 2x7800's or a 8800gtx so it must need a hefty CPU.

You can put the 64bit patches on a 32bit version of Far Cry. It is a bit hit and miss but it does work. Can't find the website where i got the patches and instructions from, but it really does work.

Tried it myself, works pretty good

How much does it improve the game guys ?

Slighty better graphics, draw distance and more animals

I also ran it on XP 32bit but with a 64bit cpu. The biggest difference is the draw distance. It's amazing with the 64bit patch. There's an improvement in textures as well.

It can give you quite a performance hit though.

:)

You didnt ;)

The question was about the binaries, not the additional content...
You can get the additional content to run on a 32 bit machine, but you can only run the game in 64 Bit if you have the 64 bit binaries, a 64 bit OS and a 64 bit CPU...

Theres a mod for it that has converted all *** stuff from the 64 bit edition to 32 bit, and lets it work on 32 bit os, i have the mod on farcry and it does its job, on winxp 32 bit.

They dont/cant....

You dont run the binaries.
To get the enhanced content under 32bit, you just add the objects/textures and revised maps and run it under 32 bit...

Take the performance hit from the increased draw distance, take the punkbuster kicks for the nonstandard files etc...

Ran just the same on my system & never got kicked from a server

You cant have been playing a server with PB, or they didnt have the whitefile list checks defined. Any decent PB config will run whitefile checks on the FCdata folder since this is where the LUA scripts are loaded from (And where the early lame ass cheats 1st surfaced... )

This is also where the additional texture and object paks go... :)
