I recently installed Far Cry onto my new PC and for some reason it's not working as it should.

The menu system works fine and so does the very start of the game. However, when I move to the part where it goes outside the picture goes all psychedelic. I took a snapshot below which highlights the problem - in that instance only half the picture was affected, but when I move closer to the light it's completely unplayable.

I've installed the latest patch (1.4), the latest drivers for the X1950Pro gfx card (7.5) and the latest DirectX. I've had no problems with any other games - does anyone have any idea?

Mine does something similar if its overclocked to much with my 6800LE. Perhaps your heatsink isn't sitting right?

Have you unlocked any extra pipelines or anything like that?

Nope done nothing like that. It's straight out of the box into the PC (no overclocking either).

Strangely it doesn't happen if I put the Lighting settings to Low. If it's on Medium or above then it happens. Maybe the latest 7.5 drivers from ATi are not compatible? Or could it still be something to do with the gfx card?

I had similar graphical problems,i downloaded the latest Farcry patch i think it was 1.40,sorted my graphics out for me

I remember having a similar problem, its been along time tho since it happend and i seem to recal either driver problem or a patch for game was needed - sry i cant be any more specific than that - im leaning towards a patch being needed to fix it tho..........

Unfortunately I have the latest patch (1.4) and still have these issues. It works ok with the Lighting settings set to low so I'll just have to live with that!
