I am looking at buying Far Cry New Dawn, just to waste a few hours a week on.

is there any reason not to buy it? is it the sort of game where you need to be spending on it all the time, Game engine bad, is it buggy and so on...

Just wanting something i can play one a week for an hour or two, dont want it if i have to devote my life to it.

Far cry games are easy to jump in and out of for an hour or two. The game engine is quite old now so should have any major problems sorted.

Not played it myself but I believe it's a sequel to far cry 5, set on the same map etc. So might be worth getting 5 first but I'll let someone who has played it come along and say whether or not you have to play 5 first for the story to make sense.

5 is £32.99... and new dawn is £13... this is why i was asking is there any problems with it? when the newer game costs less its normally for a reason.

If you like neon pink buy it, if not, don't bother.

In all seriousness if you've played one recent Far Cry, then you've played them all, except the crafting in this it's even more dumbed down. They were so lazy when they made it you have to redo outposts to get enough supplies to progress to higher tier weapons (not so subtly masqueraded as a gameplay feature). Ubisoft are fast becoming Lazysoft.

ooooo you ruined it, i was just about so say "Super i will go buy New Dawn now"

Sorry - I saw your post comparing the price and realised that's what you were proposing. It just won't make any sense - the whole storyline is really based on having played through to the end of FC5. It was a decent enough game to play through, but FC5 definitely had a far better story.

Apparently it is available for £14 via Gamebillet https://isthereanydeal.com/game/farcryv/info/

New Dawn is cheaper because it wasn't a full price title at launch. Think it was 30 retail at launch?

I didn't like FC5 much, the stupid resistance mechanic that punishes you for playing the game by forcing you into cutscenes sucks.

New Dawn is just pure Far Cry. Drive around open world with your doggo hanging out the window...take down outposts, upgrade gear. Repeat. I enjoyed it a lot more than 5.

I believe there is a mod that slows down the progression, which I'd probably use if I was going to replay FC5.

why would you say this? i plaid for an hour last nite of downloading the 58gb... the run smooth and feels night to play however i am only at the start.

Sorry I missed your post. It's just that sometimes you can wind up triggering the main story to progress before you're really ready. If you're the kind of person who wants to do lots of side missions and bits then it can be better to slow down the main story triggers.

I have found the main story to play out very
