Farcry 2 and EMU 0404 Problems

I had the same problem with a GTA where I got no sound unless I disabled the sound hardware acceleration in the control panel.

NOw when I disable it I get sound but then sound sometime loops over for a minute or so evry so often. Does anyone know of a way to fix this that doesn't involve me buying a new sound card?
 
Haven't got Farcry yet so can't tell you if I have the same problems, far too many other important games to play first.

Installed the latest drivers. Checked the outputs where there are those 2 selections where you choose either lime green or orange ?

I haven't used my PC for gaming in ages but a small upgrade to dual core and I find my 7800gtx was bottlenecked for the last few years.

Got the latest drivers but what are the outputs you are talking about?
