Farcry 2 any good?

Some love it...Most hate it.

I played it once at a friends and, although I didn't get far it seemed the sort of game that was playable, but nothing special.

As KiTBoH mentioned, it's a bit of a marmite game if I'm honest - personally though, I love it :D

Worth the money if you like to put a lot of effort into a FPS game; it can be drawn-out with all the travel, but again, this is an aspect I enjoy.

Scort.

Great game, but it very much depends if you like an atmospheric, slower paced, open world experience, with some great gun fights and some exploring(like Far cry2) or a more linear, instant gratification kind of game(like COD4). Personnaly i like both kinds of game.

I bought it last weekend, so far loving it.

My own personal opinion is that it's a more realistic and more adult version of Just Cause. Play area is huge, and although I'm only 12% into the main game, have been doing a lot of the side missions.

I can understand why people didn't like it, it's nothing like the FarCry in terms of special powers or anything, this is more pure mercenary missions in Africa (taking out people, fuel depots, supply trucks, resucing hostages, etc), and while I'm sure in the real world AK47's, MP5's and other weapons aren't 100% reliable all the time, the irony of having your target in your sights only to find your weapon has jammed and you've to press X to unjam it, can at times be a little annoying.

But overall, I love it, gorgeous graphics (although did see a flying Zebra last night - some glitch somewhere!).

Not touched the MP side yet, so can't comment on it, but definately my type of game.

It's ok, just very repetitive. When you finish the Northern section and proceed to the southern section, it's like doing everything all over again. And the missions are a little lame too. it's a long game so be prepared to throw some hours into it.

there is a problem with the 360 version of this game
it suffers from corrupt saves

have a google - this problem has kept me away from the game as my brother has it and He had the issue at arround 60% complete - had to restart

not sure about PS3 version as you haven't posted what console you have

I got about 20% of the way through iirc and stopped playing it for fear of this happening. I was waiting for Ubisoft to issue a fix for it but last I heard they are refusing to acknowledge there is a problem. So now it gathers dust in a drawer.

I have the game and am at about 60% of the way through and am only playing to so that I didnt waste my money. Its a pretty looking game but its so boring.

For example, on the missions where you have to destroy the incoming weapons shipment the truck drives around in a circle on the roads. So if you miss it the first time you can wait to attack it when it comes back. And even if you dont destroy it the first time, it continues to drive in the same circle but just a little bit faster. The game is really a no brainer.

The AI is OK, I dont see the enemy ducking for cover very much but they seem to be able to identify where you are quickly from your gunfire and if you move they search for you.

The traveling is a pain. I like open worlds but there are so many mountains in the way that you find yourself going out of your way to get to your destination.

Unless you need a game where you just do repetitive missions and enjoy a lot of shooting than get the game. But if your looking for a game with some variety and thinking then stay away. Its a lot like Assasins Creed, pretty muc all of the real work is done for you, all thats expected of you is to pull the trigger.

I had it, played it for a few days...got extremely bored of it so took it back for a trade in...good looking game but far too long and drawn out for my liking.
