Ubisoft has revealed that three of its key titles for 2008 will now arrive later than expected.

Those slipping into fiscal 2008 - which begins in April - are Far Cry 2, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway.

This will keep development costs down for the time being and help the publisher pump out some impressive financial results for the third quarter and whole of 2007, as it boosts sales predictions for Assassin's Creed from three to five million and churns out more casual content to fill shelves.

Full third-quarter financial results are due out on 23rd February, and are expected to have risen by around 20 per cent over last year. Interesting if you like and possibly dream about piles of money.

Assassin's Creed was released in November and caused a bit of a commotion with its critical reception, failing to produce the sort of marks many had expected.

Still, it took the number one spot in the charts over Christmas and continues to sell by the bucket load. Pop over to our Assassin's Creed review to find out why.

A delay can only imply they don't want to rush the game out, I would take it as a further sign that Ubisoft wants it to be an excellent game that can compete with its predecessor and Crysis. It's not to be released until at least after April now.

does far cry 2 have EA backing it like crysis did or is it going to be just ubisoft like the original.

fingers crossed its not EA.

No, the FarCry name is owned by Ubisoft, Crysis is not FarCry 2 (even though it is lol), Ubisoft are making FarCry 2 without Crytek this time.

Same as F.E.A.R 2 cant be called that, its called Project Origin, as the name F.E.A.R is owned and they all fell out over legal matters, the name was picked by holding a public competition.

The original launch date for FC2 was to meet their financial end of year targets (UBI run Apr to March).

Allegedly they have exceeded these by some way (mainly thanks to Assasins Creed) so had the luxury of being able to push the FC2 release back, hopefully resulting in a slicker product.

News of the console versions was expected if somewhat dissapointing given the claims of exclusivity for the PC.
Will be interesting (but not that much :P) to see if they are straight ports or FC2 "Instincts" style....

Definitely going to be a port of the PC version. Can't see them making a seperate game and story just for the consoles.

They've probably done this after seeing the PC sales for UT3 and Crysis during the best time of the year to sell your game.

While porting the PC version makes sense, it kind of goes against what was intimated in earlier interviews...

"In a sense we had a mandate to reinvent the brand and do what we felt needed to be done."
"It was really up to us whether we wanted to consider the console games as part of that or not. We decided not to, not because we didn't want to--like I said, none of them had even shipped yet. We didn't know if they were good. We didn't necessarily know what was going to happen. So it was like, okay, if you want us to reinvent it, we'll go Far Cry PC, Far Cry 2 PC, and the console games are the console games."

I cant get any official info, seems like UBI marketing has shut down all info until the release of their magazine exclusives...
So long as the PC is the primary platform I would hope it wont make that much difference.... (Crosses all 24 fingers and toes...)

All the EA bashing again. Did you know Crytek left Ubisoft because of their failure to launch Far Cry properly. Ubisoft had nowhere near enough copies ready to be sold on launch and for a while after
