Farcry 2 Performance - Please Help!

Hi all,

So ive turned on showfps -1 in the game and my fps is mostly around the 25 mark although sometimes drops down to 23/24 and can sometimes go as high as 40. It seems really laggy.

My hardware is the stuff in my sig, im running the 178.24 nvidia drivers as the 180 drivers wont allow me to configure my hdtv correctly as a cloned monitor - very annoying.

I cant put my finger on what the performance issue might be and im not sure what to change in the nvidia control panel.

Settings in Farcry 2:

Resolution 1680x1050
Refresh Rate 60
Vsync off
AA: 2x

Other Settings: Very High

Any help appreciated!

One thing i notice with far-cry 2 is that it looks almost the same with 0xAA but runs much smoother. It's only this and crysis i do this. All other games i use 2x or 4x. It appears that folage and rocky textures look the same with or without AA.

Run it in DirectX 9, mine runs awful in DX10, but take it to 9 and itll happily sit at about 50fps

Your running it with too much eye candy.

I have mine at very high, no AA and 1280x720 DX10 with Min 35FPS

Go into Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2\ and edit gamerprofile.xml

Change both smoothness and smoothness_ironsight from "1" to "0".

It helped me anyway...
