Hey guys finally got Farcry 3 yesterday and it's a brilliant game, but I think I've found a bug?! Played it yesterday for 6 hours all maxed out except shadows on "Very High" and with vsync on and it never buged from 60fps. Today I go to play with all the same settings and now it's playing between 20-40 fps
Tried restarting the game, restarting my pc, virus scan... nothing! Wtf :(

i2700k oc @4.5ghz
16gb RAM
GTX 680
Installed on my SSD too.

My guess is perhaps the 6 hours you played yesterday 'all maxed out' may not have actually had all the settings applied unless you restarted the game after setting those options. Some games are a bit funny about requiring a restart to apply certain video options.

20-40fps on max sounds about right. You can't get the game to run at a consistent 60fps with a 680, i've tried. Do you experience any microstutter btw?

No microstutter. It looked absolutely gorgeous though and now I gotta fart arse around till I can find the settings I had :/

I am using a 680 too, at 1920x1080 res without AA, postfx disabled and shadows ultra with everything else maxed i get 70-90fps often(only dips to 50s in big gunfights or large open town areas rarely)....if i enable 4xMSAA it goes to like 45-65.

Try the 314.07 drivers seem to of given me 5-10fps more and also disable AA plus postfx.(or put it on low)

It appears when I thought I had 8x msaa yesterday I didn't ;)
Turned it off with everything maxed except shadown on very high and I'm back to a smooth capped 60 fps :)
Thanks for the help guys.

Use SweetFX with this config http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/66/ & force high SMAA in drivers to make the game look great. Set a hotkey to enable/disable SweetFX to see the difference
