I have had this game for ages but only just started playing it properly
I'm Actually able to play it on ultra preset with 4x MSAA, which is great for the little Tahiti LE, but am also getting temperatures of 80 to 82c, 10c higher than in Crysis 3

Whats with that?

i play it on ultra on my 7950 and get low 70c's, i cant use AA though as it stops it being smooth for me

What Driver, i'm using 13.5 B2.

As I get further into the game it may well slow down then if your struggling on a 7950.

Min FPS about 30+, slightly juddery occasionally but much better than when I tested it on older drivers.

Does it really matter? A factory overclocked Msi 670 GTX runs at 85degrees but still well within operating limits.
By the time your card fails, it'll be worth nothing anyway.

yeah im on the same drivers, my min FPS is about 57 though and i spend 99.9% of the game at 60fps ;)

EDIT: just had a run around @ 4xAA and my fps is 40 - 60 and makes it feel a lot more jerky, the AA isnt worth the fps loss imo

Farcry 3 does heat up the vrms a fair bit, probably because of compute HDAO. If you think farcry 3 is bad try Sleeping Dogs with either HIGH or EXTREME SSAA.

This
Sleeping Dogs is very bad for making card heat up.
You know another game also very bad for heat is Alan Wake.

70% fan at 80c, its noisy but I play with a set of large Plantronics headphones on so can't really hear it.

My VRM's are actually cooler than they had been in the Gigabyte, which didn't have a cooler on them, its a puny little strip of alloy but it does the job with the fan blowing over it, they get to about 68 / 70c max.

I don't know what the max prolonged temp tolerance is on these Tahiti's, but unless someone tells me I should be, i'm not worried, it will be replaced within a year anyway.

im on a 1/1 ratio with my WF3 and get into the low 70c's, ive tried with fan on manual @ 100% and i still get the same low 70c temps so the WF3 cooler isnt very efficient above ~70%
70% isnt very loud at all though, nice n quiet imo (i do have it in a fractal design R2 case under my desk though)

Try turning HDAO off.

And if you can play FC3 on Ultra, with HDAO on and MSAA 4x your perception of low frame rates must be pretty shoddy :D

Everyone sees a game differently, old CS players proberbly shudder at the thought of playing at 40 FPS where as a lot of people i know wouldnt even think anything of it.

Good for me :D

if your happy with 30fps then thats fine, personally i dont mind lowering a few settings to get 60fps constant, setting postfx to 'false' in the gameprofile.xml will alone give you a decent fps boost, with that and AA=0 you will get 60fps stable, theres no real IQ loss by lowering these imo
im from the old times though where smooth fps/playability > fancy effects :)
