Apologies for the long post but I'm having some problems with the above game and wonder if someone could offer some advice.

Basically I can play the game for about 15mins before my entire system just freezes and I have to hold the power button in to reset.

This happens every time I play and ONLY in FC3, I have no issue at all with any other game.

System specs below:

i5 750 @ 4ghz
MSI P55 GD-80
8gb (4x2gb) 1600mhz
2x 120gb OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (Raid 0)
Windows 7 Ultimate
2x Asus 5850 1gb Xfire

Now the only thing that is overclocked is the CPU which is 16hrs of Prime stable but I've tried the game with the CPU at stock anyway and the same thing happens.

I've installed the CAP profile for farcry 3 and tried it in both DX9 & DX11 to no avail.

I've run an 8hr memtest pass on my ram which passed and hammered my GPU's with various tests all of which passed with no issues.

Just to re-iterate, I have no problems in any other game with crashes or lockups. In fact I was shocked when it did lockup as I think its the first in over a year I've had something like this happen.

So could it be a software problem as I'm now lost if I'm honest.

Any help offered would be appreciated.

Try reinstalling the game?
or putting it on a different drive?

Normally i would say RAM or BIOS but you've ran a memcheck and this doesnt happen with any other games.

I could only think of reinstalling or moving your game, and trying again :(

Try disabling SLI and give it a go.

For some unknown reason disabling xfire had not occurred to me.

And guess what its only gone and worked, I've just played for an hour without a lock-up. Very frustrating as this is the first issue I've ever had with xfire.

Defintely a graphics card related issue. Could be anything from driver to compability with the setup. Have you checked to see if it a known bug.?

Have u lowered graphics settings since disabling xfire? Was going to suggest it could be a problem with hitting the vram limit on your 5850's as i use around 1.2gb on high settings with my 6970.

Nope left everything the same and have'nt seen a single issue. Performance actually seems better with no micro stutter or anything.

Nvm, saw it's been resolved.

Edit: Download RadeonPro mate if you haven't already done so and make a profile for the game, enable Dynamic V-Sync and SMAA and turn off ingame MSAA and V-Sync, more FPS for you.

what temps are you guys getting?
my 6950 is getting to 63+ degrees C and then crashes, giving me random coloured screens.

I have to set my gpu fans to "very loud" to keep the temp to around 63
