Farcry2 release date 24th Oct

It's an all new engine by Ubisoft called 'Dunia', Far Cry 2 has nothing to do with Crytek.

Actually, its a rewritten farcry engine, they say less than 4% or so of the original cryengine remains. So its new in one sense but not exactly from the ground up new.

You better inform Ubisoft that their own developer blog is inaccurate then, because this video states pretty clearly that it's a brand new engine, developed specifically for Far Cry 2 and is two years in the making (as of last year).

Anyone know if an 8800GTX@1900x1200 + Q6600 is going to be realistic for this? Don't want another Crysis experience.

You should be okay.

Theyre classing it as a new engine just the way IW do with the cod games because its been overhauled so much.

The engine will take advantage of multi-core processors as well as mulituple processors and support DirectX 9 as well as DirectX 10.[15] Only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryEngine code is being re-used, according to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands.[
