farcry2 wont get past loading screen

got steam installed, downloaded farcry2 everytime i boot up it crashes with no error on screen. it gets passed the splash sceen then exits.
i did go into the resolution settings and changed them to a higher resolution then settings were changed back to a lower res, still cant load the game any ideas??

Try your sound settings, i sometimes have this problem with games when i run my sound on 24bit 96000, some games dont support it.

Long shot:

It tries to go online during the initial load, maybe check your firewall rules and either set it to allow or block it?
