What do you think? Does the selective colour work?
Pity it just wasnt my son in the pic think that would have looked better.

It's crooked, is the first thing that immediately springs to mind, and selective colouring rarely works unless done in a subtle way. Unless there's an actual relevance for the selective colouring I rarely use it.

I suppose it depends on what you're going for really, but I'm not really a fan of it's use in most cases. The above photo seems to have no need for it and as I'm a black and white fanatic, I'd make the whole image B&W and tinker with levels.

I don't think selective colour has ever worked to be really honest. What are you trying to achieve with it? Separation between the people and cows? I think there are far less obvious, clever and deeper ways of doing it that would yield a far more interesting image.

I don't mind the selective colouring and straightening out the shot just takes a few seconds :)

I quite like the shot but maybe it would have been better with the kids face in it but who knows :P

The selective colouring confuses the shot IMO, the focus is on your family because of the colouring so it kind of feels like a portrait except they're not facing the camera, yet it's taken on a farm so you're distracting the interest away from the cows ,etc

Aren't cows black and white anyway? ;)

To me, the selective colouring makes it look like the people are being pulled out into a more modern age.
If the farm looked archaic in some way, I reckon that would actually work really well - but the modern tractor in the background ruins it.
