It's crooked, is the first thing that immediately springs to mind, and selective colouring rarely works unless done in a subtle way. Unless there's an actual relevance for the selective colouring I rarely use it.
I suppose it depends on what you're going for really, but I'm not really a fan of it's use in most cases. The above photo seems to have no need for it and as I'm a black and white fanatic, I'd make the whole image B&W and tinker with levels.
