Hey,

I have been to Waddington a couple of time, but not yet made it to Farnborough, which I hear/read is the better one in the UK.

I'd like to do it this year... it's Thursday/Friday 16/17 July.

Anyone else going?

It'll be my first time trying this type of photography... I managed to get a couple of OK photos of some things that decided to fly overhead today... but I'm defo a noob to this type of shooting.

The kit should help somewhat... I'll be taking Canon 5D3 + Sigma 150-600 5-6.3 Sport + tripod... I'll have other lenses with me too, but that'll be the primary one for flight of course as the next longest reach lens I have is the 135L F2.

Any specific tips other than selecting tracking stabilisation mode on the lens?

What about AF selection... single point tracking mode or something different?

:)

AF selection is pretty straightforward (they are generally big targets!), shutter speed is pretty important. High for jets but low for anything with a prop/rotor. There's nothing worse than a frozen prop in a shot! Watch your exposure with the sun direction to avoid silhouettes, and just have fun :)

My office is directly opposite the air field and we all get to go up on the balcony to watch. Shame I have to wait a year for it :( :( :(

RIAT is looking amazing this year. MiG-29, Ramex Delta, Mi-24 Hind, Apaches, Chinook, last Vulcan display year, Osprey, F18, 3 Tornado display, Blenheim, Zeus F16 display team etc. Add to that an excellent static lineup and I'm glad I'm working it this year and will be there for four days!

Im at fairford this year want to get footage of the vulcans last year
will i have enough scope to video the planes or will it be to busy
Any tips on areas for shooting should i purchase an exclusive area as well
Ill probably go to shoreham and eastbourne as well being local

P-3C Orion - German Navy [F]
Sea King Mk.41 - German Navy

Mirage 2000N - Ramex Delta Tactical Display - French Air Force [F]
W-3WA Sokól - Polish Land Forces

Although I think the MiGs have pulled out now due to engine problems....
