Fast CPU or more RAM?

Ok, when i built my conroe rig one of the comromises i had to make was on memory. I could only afford a gig of DDR2 667. This clocked nicely to 760Mhz taking me to over 3Ghz

Well now ive got my hands on 2x512Mb Ballistix DDR2 800 and with that i can get my RAM to 880Mhz and my cpu to 3.5Ghz

But ive still only got a gig of RAM so im thinking of sticking the geil stuff back in as well taking me up to 2Gb butr lowering the cpu overclock to 3Ghz again.

The only thing that worries me is the ballistix runs at 2.2v, and the geil at 1.9v. am i likley to kill the geil by giving it 2.2v?

i would say more memory would make a bigger difference than a smallish o/c

Most modern games require more than 1gb of ram to run without hefty lag.

All modern games run fabulously on even a stock conroe.

RAM in my opinion. No amount of overclocking your CPU will negate paging game data to disk.

Cheers, ive put the RAM in now and its running pretty well. Ive lowered the voltage to 2.1v so im only slightly over volting the geil stuff.

I will have a look about for another ballistix set i think tho and try and get the wife to get it me for xmas
