Fast focusing primes?

Hi guys,

When using my 50mm F1.4g lens I find it awfully slow to get focus especially if the subject is moving.

I like the images it produces but I love the speed of the 24-70 F2.8!

What options do I have out there or are all primes about the same?

The 50 1.4D and 85 1.4D and apparently the 35 2D is fast as well.
I was considering re-buying these for when I want super fast AF.

In general, wide aperture primes are relatively slow due to the shallow DoF and need for extreme accuracy.


And although wider aperture lenses give more light to the AF sensor, the af sensor is not sensitive to anything beyond f2.8 ( same with the viewfinder)

I hear the sigma 50mm f1.4 is a little faster than the Nikon, likewise at 85mm.

Also, the Nikon 1.8G are sometime faster than the 1.4G lenses due to smaller aperture.
