Fast paced old-school shooter: Urban Terror

Some of you have no doubt already heard of/played Urban Terror but for those of you that haven't, it's basically a tactical css-like mod for the Quake3 engine. The game really emphasises team tactics but also has a nice fast pace to it due to it's Q3-engine routes.

I've just set up a new server for this on the LinkTart dedi (same machine that hosts the OcUK Minecraft server) and I'm hoping to get a few regular games on there. We'll be running in CTF mode mostly and I'll be appointing admins as required.

Is anyone up for a game tonight around 7ish?

I have downloaded and installed it. Had a quick play, can't say I like it much, played CSS straight after and it feels much better.

Will give Urban Terror another try with you lot later. :)

It's a very different style of play, and can take some getting used to. We played it for the first time in ages after nothing but BFBC2, and the movement felt incredibly weird for a while (and I got completely pwned), but after a couple of games it all came flooding back :)
 
I'm interested in playing this. I've never played this game before nor have I really played much shooting games. I'll have a quick go at it though and see how I get on.

Do we use the keyboard/mouse for controls?
 
Yup..keyboard/mouse..as usual :)

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this. When I mentioned it in the Minecraft chat lots of people seemed to be intrigued :)
 
FT, the link you put up seems to be downloading really slow for my unfortunately. Anyway of getting a quicker download please?
 
Thanks. It seems to be downloading quicker now, says it'll be another 20 mins though :(. Hopefully we will still be playing then.
 
It's okay - I've been too busy to start playing yet anyhow.

Chances are we'll be playing later in the night instead so you've got lots of time :)
 
Unfortunately I can't jump on tonight, revising for a job interview :)
Will be on tomorrow if anyone wants the rope holding (or to pwn me sideways :p)
 
Ahhhh, never noticed this thread before! I've been playing UT for a while now, but seems it doesn't want to work on my Win 7 x64 rigs at all. (/Hate) Have to install a copy of 32 bit just to make it run. :(

FT - do you know how in your signature you have the MC thing that tells you how many players are online, would it be possible to have one for Urban Terror too? As if I was looking through the forum and saw their was a few online, It'd probably make me log on :P.

Should be doable yeah. I'll look into it sometime soon :)

Nexuiz is good. I guess it comes down to which one you played first. Personally I played UrT first :p
