I was driving through Stoke today and these two lads on this quad came up behind me - this was on the A500 so they were doing 50++! No helmets, but the quad had a license plate. Surely this can't be legal?

Am I the only one who simply doesnt understand why you would want a quad on the road?

All the downsides of a car - can't nip through gaps, etc etc, all the downsides of a bike - very exposed, crash and you die, but with none of the advantages of a car or a bike either.

very cheap, easy to ride and you can nip through gaps, wider than a bike but still very thin.

I would love one.

You don't exactly fall off a bike unless you ride into something.

hit a white line, drain cover, puddle in a corner, ect ect ect.

a qaud is much more like a car, but fast agile and small.

Just needs indicator lights and normal (front and rear) lights to be legal, afaik.

And road legal tyres. I think a lot of them are registered as competition machines which makes a lot of difference, I don't think they even *need* indicators as a competition machine.

Nope I totaly agree, they are pointless. Unless of course it's a farmer riding it between fields etc.

Whatever anyone says, they can not be safely ridden through gaps, the road legal ones are pretty big.

Quad bikes on the road irritiate the living urine out of me.

Its more to do with the people that are riding them I suspect.

Still, no helmets, we can only hope this increases the chance of a fatality.

I can understand the appeal of a quad bike Id love one, Great for summer time, But id wear a crash helmet.

Cheap tax cheap fuel, Insurance though?
