Fast web host

I'm looking for a fast web host for a simple html website.

I am struggling to find anyone that can offer over a 10mbit connection.
All seem to advertise burstable speeds, and connection to a fast gigabit backbone. However after purchsing accounts with various hosts they all turn out to be not as fast as anticipated.
The site is lite, and will not have very many visitors, but those that do visit require a very fast link.

I am very happy with vidahost/Tsohost for support/stability.

As far as I'm aware Vidahost have Gigabit connections to their servers. So the 10mb might be limited by your ISP.

It would be worthwhile just giving them a tinkle, just to confirm.

Vidahost for one is on full gigabit - I get my full 50mbit at home on file downloads and very high speeds when transferring to/from other servers.

Neither us nor Tsohost are slow! Offhand I think you emailed us recently but I don't remember hearing back; fire an email and I can help. As you have a simple site there's not much to look at and certainly network bandwidth doesn't really factor in

I'm suspecting you're seeing limitations of TCP if you're testing download speeds of small files, or just aren't looking at the right metrics etc. There's not much to worry about with simple sites these days!

TSOHost advertise a 10Gbps, not 10Mbps, connection.

I would also wonder (as blade007 asked) if the limit you are seeing is being introduced somewhere other than from your host...

My personal bet is router QoS. Not because I've done the same thing myself, honest

Not supprisingly - I got a nice friendly detailed response within minutes.

Vidahost do indeed provide a full gigabit+ unrestriced connection! - . Same goes for TSO no doubt.. Appologies for placing doubt here..

My domain was resolving to someone eles's website when doing a traceroute.. ? Allthough connecting to my site/server worked fine.. guess due to being on a shared platform maybe something odd happend. Anyway that all appears to be good now.. No idea what that was about.

So relating to speed I guess it maybe be something at my end. Possibly - routing/dns due to the funny issue above... I am not aware of any QOS enabled - however as above - It wouldn't be the first time todo something silly like that.

Seeing as it worked for my old crt. As a first step I'm going to give the Vigor the good old encouraging whack.
