Faster payments

Anyone know much about the system?

I sent a payment last night (just before 6pm) for an item from MM.
It left my account immediately. The sort code etc matches those supplied (checked that)

But the money hasnt appeared.

I am sending from Santander and hes with HSBC both of whom claim to support the system. I know I can send to Lloyds and it appears very quickly so in theory Santander support the system)

So only possibility I can come up with (other than wrong sort code etc) is that the system goes down outside normal banking hours? (doesnt sound likely)

Overall pretty confused where this can have gone wrong.

Anyone got any ideas or sent from Sanatander ---> HSBC and known it take more than a few hours?

Did it online as I always do.
When its Santander --> lloyds and thats virtually instant, suppose its possible its gone BACS.

Bugger, I was with A&L and looking at that it may have changed with Santander taking over.
Not sure if those are minimum or maximum amounts though they they are showing.

Was £175 which is a lot lower than the amounts I send to Lloyds.
Looks like its just being held up / going slowmo through the system in that case.

Yes I logged in as normal to internet banking then when I set up this payment I had to answer the extra question (ie letters x and y from secret password)

Ah fingers crossed this is it. I was kinda hoping this was the answer.

Wierd how people view diff things about the same bank.
I really like A&L and find them better than both Lloyds and Barclays. (No idea on long term impact from Santander though)
I rated First Direct but had an issue that they just would not address and in the end it was easier to close my account and move. I may go back to them though at some point though.
