Fastest AVI -> DVD

Whats the fastest programme that can convert a .avi to a dvd file and burn it?

Needs to be able to make a main menu.

Tried Nero Vision but for some reason wont play on any dvd!

You could also try Winavi 9 which makes a simple menu

Any 64-bit applications of software?

Encoding on my x2 AMD takes quite some time, and was wondering if having an x64 version would speed things up?

DVD Flick is what I use, it also creates simple yet effective menus. It uses IMGBurn for the burn process (integrated into DVD FLick, launches and closes by itself) so compatibility with DVD players is 100% solid.

You can burn the files convertx2dvd produces with imgburn if one so wishes.

Takes about an hour to convert and another 5 mins to burn with my AMD 3000+ and 20x sony burner.

take abouts 25minutes to encode and burn on my pc depending on the film.

a E2140 @ 2.2 Ghz will convert a movie at roughly 2-3x speed. i.e. 20-30mins per hour of source material. Which was a nice upgrade from myXP1900 which was about 2-3x LONGER than the source ..
