Fastest CPU for Socket 939 ?

Hi,

I've had an AMD 3200 Venice for about 3 years, overclocked to 2.6 ghz, and I think its time to upgrade.

I don't have enough money to build a new C2 duo pc.

What are some of the fastest CPUs for skt 939?

Also which ones would have the best overclocking potential?

I have an asus a8v deluxe and a zalman 9500 cooler, currently it runs 24`C idle and maxes out at 32` under full load.

First of all, Thank you for your posts, very helpful

The price of the fx60 is ridiculous. Not worth it imo. So im scrapping the idea of upgading lol. I'm gonna have to build a new rig .

I did a search round my house finding useless stuff that i dont use, (ipod, psp, 9800 pro, some HDDs, and a couple of old mobile phones, router. etc...) I estimate i'd be able to make about 350-400 from selling all that.

Then i'll sell my current pc (3200+, nvidia 7800gs, 1gb ram, zalman 9500 cooler and 500watt unbranded psu) for about £100-120, That should get me a nice Nvidia 8600, and a branded psu. Do you think that price for my current bits is OK?


Hopefully i'll be able to pull this off, i just need some motivation

Ok thanks for info, but great news for me:...

I asked my mum to give me a 500-600 loan, and i think shes gonna let me

I told her i'd give her all my EMA for a year at college when i get it.

I think i'll start a new thread later, for your very useful opinions/recommendations.
