Fastest HDD for PS3

Whats the fastest drive for a PS3? Seagates seem best a 250gb SATA one with 16mb Cache.

There was problems last night, but they are not normal, loading times are fine IMO when there was no network issues

I have an original 60gb ps3. Are these drives slower than newer ones?

I very much doubt GT5 loading times would be noticeably improved with a new HDD, save your money unless you need more space as well. As said, most of the irritation is from the network code which seems to constantly want to connect even when you're not doing anything online (news feed perhaps?), plus the loading isn't the quickest in the world anyway.

Is the PS3 not limited to like 5400rpm and a certain amount of cache? I know you can put 7200rpm ones in the PS3, but I mean that 7200rpm and higher cache hard drives don't make a difference?

It will make a difference, but because it loads from both the HDD and the disc the benefits aren't massive.

Notice much difference on loading times? I changed the original drive for a 320GB 7200 about a year ago and didn't notice a difference, although it may load a tiny bit quicker if timed. SSD should be noticeable?

It was quite noticeable yes. Especially in installing games I found it a lot quicker
