Hey guys,

I have a friend who's after a PCI gfx card so that BF2 actually plays.

Am I right in saying the 6200 256MB is his best bet brand new?

What about 2nd hand?

Is there any point? (It's for his kids).

:D

The best PCI cards that were released were a Radeon 9100 (essentially a 8500) or a Nvidia FX5700. They might be able to play BF2 at 800x600 low settings, but it would be pretty aweful.

A 9200 would just about play BF1942/DC ok 1024x768, but it would be a crawl fest with BF2. Its really not worth it.

The lowest card Ive played BF2 with was my laptops 6200Go, you could just about be commander with it ok, but as for shooting people, you can forget it.

My mate bought a 5700 PCI card to play counter strike source and it was a waste of money gettin it unless u are willing to play @ 15 fps

Thats css so i would have thought BF2 would be even worse ??

To be honest any system without an AGP/PCI-E slot is likely to be too slow to run the game at anything approaching decent performance anyway.

Would be a lot better off scanning the members market for an old system/bundle really.

Any PCI card is a waste tbh, I had an AGP 6200 and clocked the pants off it (literally 60% overclock on both the core and memory). It scored about 5k in 03 but could only run UT2004 @ 1024 medium details.

Yeah totally agree, couldnt imagine running any game on a PCI card it would just be horrible.

Off topic, but Raikiri could you update my trust please? I know you dont like your aol email :D

Done...yeah I don't have a choice in the matter :(. Although it is unlimited downloads and kinda cheap, plus they don't question the fact I have downloaded rather a lot :D

As said a new motherboard would be the best option and an AGP card, whats the rest of the spec like?
