Fasthosts and mod_rewrite

Hi

I've been having problems getting RewriteRules working on my Fasthosts shared linux account.

I've checked the mod with phpinfo() and it's enabled, but when I check my log files I get...

user/htdocs/.htaccess: RewriteRule not allowed here

...resulting in a nice error 500.

Has anyone ever had mod_rewrite/RewriteRules working on Fasthosts before? Any help appreciated
