Fat...?

Does anybody know her actual height and weight to determine if she is actually overweight? I'm guessing it is just speculation (although she may well be)

Not that being overweight (not obese mind you) is automatically unhealthy.

You were talking about role models, rather than shop window displays. How does any role model convey anything through visual merchandising in a shop window?

Simply through appearance, surely? Whereas making a 'past history' known to shoppers is extremely hard to accomplish in the same situation.

her face shows potential in the pic on the left, but in the right-hand pic she looks ugly, surely they had better images to choose from than that?

She is large, she has a lot of excess bodyfat, some women are naturally thin and cant put weight on, I dont like it when women say "oh REAL women have curves" like its some sort of excuses to be fat and that women with low body fat percentages are unhealthy and anorexic

Her pics have been photoshopped to hell, no doubt she will have stretch marks being that big.

But chicco, the point I'm making is that just because I don't look good naked, it doesn't mean I automatically think the OP fatty does, which is what your comment above about lolworthy comments seemed to infer.

So have a ~role model~ of a healthy weight, if that's what you want in the window. It's fine having models for clothes who are overweight... my issue is with calling them role models, or making it a crime to call a spade a spade and say they are overweight.
That's a fair point.

Nothing wrong with saying she is a bit overweight, as she is - but I wouldn't go as far as saying "FAT" the second anybody is above size 10 (like the media is currently).

There is one thing promoting healthy eating & exercise & another sullying any women who isn't super thin with derogatory labels.

A bit of fat is fine, just not excessive - as with all things in life - moderation, besides skinny girls do lack curves (which for me is a no-no).

That made me chuckle :o

The woman isn't grossly fat like obese... but she is deffo overweight and overweight = not healthy. I think companies should at least promote their brands by using a healthy 'normal' sized model, e.g. someone with a normal BMI

Overweight = not ideal and generally 'unhealthy'

I carry extra weight and would be considered overweight, I can guarantee you I am more healthy than some who would be considered normal however.

Is there actually a set weight which if you are over you are deemed 'overweight'? I appreciate BMI numbers are commonly used, and they are largely irresponisble to rely on.

Yes, she's a larger lady but she's not morbidly obese or anything like that. She obviously feels comfortable in her body and skin. Females are under constant pressure that they need to be a certain size, shape and look and this causes all number of problems both physically and mentally.

Good on the girl, and good on the shop for picking her and trying to further the discussion about body image.

.

Yes but the worry is that if this sets a precedent, then women will think it is acceptable to be overweight.

I can't believe anyone thinks that she has a healthy weight/figure for a 20 year old woman
