Fatal System Error help

Just been given a friends notebook as it comes up with STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error) after the xp load page and just restarts itself all the time. ive tryed safe mode and last know configuration but you cant get into any of them. is there anyway to fix it other than a fresh reinstall?

Could try a repair install, it depends what is causing the fatal error though.

tried that page, no good though as i cant get into windows it just restarts

Is a fresh install an option? You could spend hours and hours on something like this. I've been there with this same stop code and I ended up reinstalling anyway.

yeah i could reinstall but imnot sure he has a disk (notebooks dont anyway do they) and im not sure how to do it on a notebook with no cd drive and not been able to get into windows aswell
