On many occasions i have had systems that do not startup (no power) and i change the psu but still no joy dead as a dodo ! i then stick in another motherboard and still the same result so transfer everything into a new case and away it goes ! so obviously something has happened the wiring of the case causing me to get no power ! is it possible to get such a thing like a switch and led's that can be attached to the motherboard to prevent me having to change the case over to do a test first to save me time, if this is available it would be a great piece of kit to carry around, if you know of anything on the market like this i'd appreciate it if you could tell me the name of it.

Many Thanks

Reset buttons use the same type of switch, and connector. You can power a system up using either the power, or reset button, just attach the reset button jumper to the power on jumpers, and press.

Chances of both buttons and wiring being faulty is pretty low, unless your playing tarzan on the wiring loom.

Do you do full factory resets when you have motherboard problems. I've often found that moving motherboards between cases can wipe the cmos settings, and often thats all thats needed to get a board running again.

Quite often just using the cmos clr jumper isnt enough to wipe out a corrupted cmos. Removing the battery, and the ATX power leads before using the clr jumper is more 'certain' to work, and often can revive an apparently dead board.

There's also often a small amount of flexing and bending when installing a board, which could account for boards springing back to life.
