Hi there my friend has asked me to fix his old PC for him, I found out it was the motherboard that was broken so he got a new motherboard for me to replace it, the processor is a Phenom 1 and there is 4gb of ram and the motherboard he purchased was ASRock N68C-S UCC.

The problem im having is that I installed the motherboard and all the components and and connected all the power leads and the pc turns on, i can hear the hard drive spinning and the disc drive loading the driver disc but there is no picture even after waiting 15 minutes, can anyone help, thanks in advance for the advice.

I was trying to use all of the video ports as the onboard would not work and I checked the memory is seated correctly I can`t think what the problem is, it`s gotten me baffled.

I connected all the cables I will try connecting another monitor and see if that works, will get back to you shortly to let you know if it works.

I`ve tried another screen i`ve tried one stick of RAM i`ve tested the psu on another system and the GPU is brand new so I don`t think it is that I will try resetting the cmos see if that helps.

Hi there i`m back sorry I have not been online to ask advice for a few days I had important things to do.

I tried resetting the cmos still no luck and the ram is new the psu is tested ive tried it without the graphics card, I am wondering if the processor is not compatible with the motherboard we chose is it possible that that it is too high a wattage for the motherboard all i know about the processor is that it is a phenom 1, 2.4ghz, I think it was the cheapest phenom at the time does anybody know if this is a 95watt model..

It is possible i misdiagnosed the problem in the first place but I cant see how as I have built several PC`s and done lots of upgrades to different systems over the past 5 years.

I dont have another AM2+ or AM3 chip to try it but I think my advice to him will be to buy an AM3 chip for it, and more help will be appreciated.

The symptoms of the original system were that the power would come on for about a tenth of a second and then nothing just dead, first I thought it was the power supply and then i tested that and it worked fine on another machine, I knew it was not the ram cus it would turn on but dfail posting someway or another, and I did not think it was the processor cus the speaker on the motherboard made no beeping sound so I think the motherbaord was definitely the faulty item, PS:yes I am using ddr2 ram for the processor.

I tried to check the code on the processor but it is worn off maybe because of the thermal paste bummer I don`t know what else to think other than to suggest to him to buy some DDR3 and a phenom 2 1055t which is 95watt.

Thanks for all the advice folks i`m sure the CPU is fine so I guess it must be the motherboard I will RMA it and hope they can find a fault so they will replace it.
