Hello everybody :D

I could do with some thoughts, I have my own thoughts as to what might be wrong, but here goes.

Fault
Power on, lights on the motherboard, fans all buzzing, but nothing shows on the screen. Also no lights on the backlit keyboard. but when I click the mouse buttons the lights appear on the mouse for a second.
I can not get the bios screen either.

What I have tried
I have dual graphics so tried both cards individually - Nothing
I Have removed the ram and tried each individual stick of ram - Nothing
I have swapped motherboards - Nothing
I have reset the bios and removed / replaced the cmos battery - Nothing

What I have also done
I have a new set of ram that is being delivered home today, so going to try that just incase the ram I had is all broked.

Only choices left if the ram dont work, is CPU or one of the rails on the PSU?
Or the unthinkable both graphics cards are screwed.

I have the core i7 920 with both the gigabyte ud3r rev 1 / and the asrock extreme 6 (i think) motherboards (asrock is not great motherboard, the gigabyte is better)

If its not the ram, and ends up being the cpu, I may have to upgrade all to 1155 kit (in like 3 years time :( ), as I am not going to fork out for a new 1366 cpu, unless I can get some second hand kit from some one at a bargin basement price (im skint lol)

So any other thoughts?

Ah it helps to write things out to see things more clearly lol, it could be the monitor, will try that later by connecting it to my laptop, anything else?

Nope.

This is ruled out with you saying your backlit keyboard doesn't come on. Thats because the Motherboard isn't posting far enough to initiate the USB fully.

Aha cool, so it could still be ram? fingers crossed X , if its cpu i may need to find a second hand one from some where as they are expensive for the 1366 now

so how do i tell if its the psu?
as the fans and motherboard lights etc start up when the pc is powered on, its just trying to rule things out b4 i come to the final expensive part.......the cpu

thanks for the input, i will have to have a play later, if the ram dont work then ah poop lol, any one got a spare psu they could lend me? lol

ahaaaaaa poooooo, the memory didnt fix the problem, so its now the psu or cpu, cant afford to keep buying lots of different stuff trying it all, am i able to return the ram as it didnt help? or am i stuck with it?

The psu is an ocz item

We're telling you it's probably the PSU... Components I've had fail include about 10 PSUs, a couple of sticks of RAM, a couple of HDDs and one 7900GS gpu. That's it. PSUs are by far the most common thing to fail.
