Does anyone know if it's possible to buy parts for ABIT motherboards?

I have an old PC with an Abit NF7s motherboard and the fan has packed in (not the CPU fan but the other little one which is mounted on the motherboard.

Anyone know where I can get the part from, or is it more cost effective to to buy another mobo?

I had the same problem with my Abit board about 8 months ago. There was a guy on here from Abit who told me to get in touch with them for a free replacement.

I actually went for a Thermalright HR-05 IFX Northbridge Chipset Heatsink but i don't think I ever got it seated right. I ended up moving my stuff into a shuttle anyway as I was getting BSODs and wanted an excuse to get one.

Check out some of the other replacement heatsinks in that section. After my experience if you've got your motherboard vertically mounted like most people I wouldnt reccomend the tower cooler types, because the two spring pin attachment doesnt hold it securely enough. Try the Zalman ones if you've got the room, I'd go for one of them if I was in the same situation now.

PK!

abit fans tend to be pretty carp. Mine broke and I didn't notice until my pc just died one day. I wouldn't bother getting a replacement, just buy a 3rd party northbridge cooler from the link posted by misterPK. As long as the airflow in your case is good, you'll just need a decent heatsink on the northbridge without a fan.

Another good one for the nf7 is the passive Zalman ZM-NB47J

Works well even with a highly overclocked setup plus only cost about £5 :)
