Faulty asus card?

Hi,

I bought an asus hd7950 last year and its been working fine until recently. Now what seems to be happening is that the screen goes black - no BSOD or anything just black screen and the only way out of it is to switch off the pc, wait a few minutes and then turn it back on.

I'm guessing that its the graphics card as i have put in the old one and the pc is working fine.

My question is, does it sound like the graphics card is faulty and i should buy a new one? Ive seen other websites about the asus hd7950 having a fault and overheating - could this be the problem? is there a batch no. of the faulty units or anything? If so what would be a good equivalent card (doesnt have to be amd) to get as a replacement?

Thanks for any help!

Ah ok, il swap it back in and see what happens - don't know if it makes any difference but I'm running the 13.4 drivers.

Thanks for the advice!
