My 2 week old pc with an abit F-I90HD board, 8800GTS, corsair 520w psu & 2 gig of ballistix 5300C3 has eventually been running great after the initial sata dvd problems but I wanted more !
Ordered a 2nd 2gig kit yesterday whilst it was on special again and straight away had problems, xp & vista freezing, stalker crashing. Ran the vista memory tool & it fails. Took the original 2gig kit out & it is still failing so looks like the new ram is screwed.
BOO HOO. Never had any problems before, hope the rma goes smoothly

Oh double pants, even with the original memory back in by itself the pc now keeps locking up. Could fitting additional memory have damaged the motherboard

Test them in the slots you used for your old set.

And if they are faulty, return them to Crucial in Scotland rather than Ocuk and a new set will be with you within 4 days. Quicker if the post works in your favour.

I thought my ballistix died but it turns out it was my P5B deluxe :(

Disappointed my memory didn't fail as the RMA won't be as fast with asus! :p

guru - thats a pain - how did it die ?

My new Ballistix (RMA returns) are much better- before wasn't Orthos stable - now at 1090 and 1 hr 20 mins stable and still going :)

wouldn't even do 1020 MHz before for more than about 20 mins

Mark.

no idea how it died.

I had it running 1.6v 450fsb and ddr2 900mhz 2.2v...then I set it to 1.5v northbridge 450fsb and ddr2 1125 which was stable about 3 weeks ago....

and it wouldn';t boot no matter what i did. Thought it was the ram as but tried the ram in my friends computer and it passed memtest with no errors. This setup was only about 3.5 weeks old as well!

bad luck i guess.

This is my first time with Asus...I really miss my DFI nf4 Ultra-D...best motherboard ever made...if the overclocking options are the same kind of style I might purchase a RD600 or maybe a Dfi 965 dark.

Going to run memtest tomorrow, if only i could get the damn sata dvd to boot, i will have to get a spare ide drive from my other machine. As a quick test I ran through 3dmark06 with each stick, 2 good, 2 failed with lockups. Being a bit of a putz I must have managed to mix up the old & new sticks so now I'm back with 2gig and have been playing stalker fine for 30 minutes now. Can only assume that both new sticks are faulty, so not the complete disaster I thought it may have been with a fried motherboard.
