my abit quad GT arrived yesterday. However it wont boot. As soon as it tried to read off a cd, or hard drive i get fancy symbols and coloured blocks all over the screen.
So far iv tried .......

660 cpu
820 cpu

corsair xms2, 512mb stick on its own in all the slots, then crucial balaistix 1gb stick in all the slots.

x850xt in both slots
6200 LE in both slots

removed all connectors, usb, firewire, hard drives

iv tried underclocking the cpu and memory.

nothing makes any difference, get the same problem everytime.

is this a corrupt bios or faulty board?

cheers

It could be a duff board but there is a few things more I would check if it was me having the problems.

Try changing your IDE & Floppy cable, and try with a different CD/DVD & Floppy drive.

If you still have the same problem I would say your board needs to be RMAd.

Hope you are lucky and its just your peripherals if not I hope for a speedy RMA for you.

i replaced the board on a working system from an asus P5W ready for a C2D upgrade. ffs so anoying. ocuk not the best on speedy RMA's even if I took it up to the shop and was purchased less than 24 hours ago would need to wait a few days.
