Faulty Cooling?

Hey all,

I unfortunately come to you fine folks with another problem with my pre-built 'King Cobra' from OCUK :(

It seems I may have a fault water block/pump with the CPU cooler. Booted it up today to find it powered down on me 3-4 minutes into use. On checking the BIOS (hardware monitor) I noticed the CPU core temp was running flaming hot 95C.

I opened up the case and checked the CPU fan was running ok (which is was), and then checked the connector for the water cooler block/pump under the mobo to see if it had gotten disconnected (which it hadn't).

I purchased this system early-mid Nov 2011, so the CPU cooler is almost new. The cooler I use is: OcUK H2Flo Extreme Liquid Dual Fan CPU cooler (on an Intel i7 960 3.2).

I'm pretty sure the problem resides with the cooler block/pump as I have ruled out most other things (PSU, PSU connectors, PSU extension connector for CPU cooler).

Does this sound about right (faulty CPU cooler) ...or does anyone have any other ideas or suggestion that I could try?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

If everything is connected just fine and that fan is spinning, I would say the pump has gone. Best get in touch with OCUK, send them a note in the customer services section.

yeah give us a shout or open a thread in the customer services section. and we will get this sorted.

Did you send a webnote too? I Think I just answered it.

Yeap ...I sent the web note before I seen your reply on this thread to create an entry in the customer support section :)

Im pretty tech minded, so I should be able to fit the heatsink no problem. I built plenty of PCs in the past, but never worked with the water cooling system (looks straightforward enough I think).

However, I don't have any thermal compound ...would I need to re-apply with a new heatsink (I'm assuming I would)?

Cheers
Chris
