Im so annoyed. Got this delivered today, and the disk wont even spin up with the disk in any DVD drive. Anyone had similar problems? It keeps trying to read it, but wont.

Well, it seems that it doesnt read on my Samsung SATA drives, or an a Generic DVD-ROM in my server, but in another drive on an XP machine ive just built it works fine. Hmm. Gonna take an image and burn a new disk. Assuming that i can.

Just updated the firware for both my Samsung drives and neither of them will read the disk. It spins up, then down, then seeks across the whole thing, then makes dodgy noises and repeats. Light flashing like mad every time. Looks like there something wrong, so its getting sent back. I even left the disk in while windows rebooted and it stopped windows from starting. Is the drive you are using a Samsung SH-S183L? Sata.

Mine wasnt the Special Edition. Refuses to work at all. There was a comment on the EA forums claiming it was the newer burners because of their abilities. Faulty disks i say, never had any problem with ANY games or disks, EA are claiming its due to the abilities of the newer burners and that compatibility is poor. Yet ive never had a problem with any of EA's games before . . . . . .

Well, i received my new disk from (Nearly posted where!) and it makes the dodgy clicking noises when it first spins up and then plays the game fine, so im happy. However, the installer for Crysis completely failed to put and shortcuts on my desktop, and nothing in my start bar. Why oh why?

Nope. Nothing there. Only ever the microsoft ones. Its done this with quite a few games. Such as Sup Com and Bioshock. Other games are fine, it puts them under the manufacturer.

Sounds like your looking in the games folder in the All Programs section, open the Games manager folder which is on the right hand side under the Documents, Pictures etc.

Quite a few games for Vista only place shortcuts here.

Heh. Thanks :D

I didnt have that on my start bar anyway, i strip it right down. I usually just shortcut the .exes
