Hey everyone

My dad just came back from Dubai, he brought with him his personal laptop and his work one.He asked me if i could take a look at his personal laptop as its not working.

Told him i would give it a look.

Laptop screen flashes on for less than a second when pushing/holding down power button.

Things i have troubleshooted already:

Removing battery and attempting to start it up through power supply.
Connected laptop to external display.
Tried another hdd.

Power supply looks OK no apparent damage although i am suspicious it may be at fault.

I need to get hold of some ram to test out.

Anybody know what the problem might be?

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

I take it you mean on powering up the screen flashes and then nothing happens?

If so sounds like the motherboard/CPU is done.

Try removing the HDD and try and boot from a usb stick using linux puppy or a live CD of ubuntu, it this does boot then it ruls out the motherboard/CPU etc.

It maybe worth trying this with different ram, in different slots to see if that is causing it.

After that l am all out of ideas.

Regards.
