My secret mountain base!
I've just tried to play a DVD and after it made a bunch of odd noises I had a look at it. There's a bubble of plastic on the clear inner bit that seems to be causing the problem.

Any ideas how I can go about flattening out the bubble? It's on the rear side of the disc.

Can't send it back :(

Going to try and melt it with a soldering iron, see if that works. It's a bin job anyway so it's worth a go. :D

EDIT:

AHA! A quick jab with the soldering iron and a nail file to smooth it down and I have a working DVD.

:D

The thread can be closed now.

Who would have thought my dad would actually came up with a good idea for a change.

Panting like a fiend
if it was the inner ring (quite likely), then it probably would work as that part doesn't have any data on it - i've seen a few disks with problems in that area of the disk, alhough none serious enough to stop it reading :)
